St. Francis de Sales was born near Annecy in Savoy, in 1567. He was the eldest of 12 children. He died in 1622 with the word “Jesus” on his lips. He was canonized in 1665. St. Francis de Sales is the patron saint of writers and journalists.
Francis was a very smart man because Francis’s parents wanted him to become a lawyer and enter politics. At age 12 Francis went to college de clermont in paris. He also went to study philosophy and theology. Francis did not want to become a lawyer but wanted to become a priest. Francis entered the priesthood in 1593 with his friend Louis. Then in 1602 Francis became the bishop of Geneva.
Francis was also known as, Francis de Sales, Gentle Christ of Geneva, the gentleman saint, and Franz von sales. Some
