I think of myself a good candidate to partake in this program as I’m in all honors classes for my school plus my four magnet classes, and my one Ap class of World history. With all these classes I’ve accomplished staying in my school top grade of Principal List for 90 above all classes per marking period. While also being a student-athlete, I’ll swim 2 and a half hour a day after school. Regardless of the homework given or test I’d find the time to accomplish it all, and get the grade to prove it. I have applied to Saint Ignatius College Prep for several reasons. One reason that I applied was because of the diverse community that exists within the school. Even though there are hundreds of kids per grade, everyone seems to know each other and everyone gets along very well. While I was shadowing at the school, I experienced this first hand. Even though I was not a student at the school, everyone treated me as if I was one, as if I wasn't there for only one day.…

This program is a unique opportunity unlike typical semester long Spanish courses. The ability to focus solely on Spanish multiple hours a day, five days a week is something that would benefit me greatly. I thrive best when I am immersed in a subject, especially when it comes to learning a new language. This program would offer me the best environment and an abundance of resources to build a strong foundation of knowledge for future Spanish courses. The greater level of proficiency I am able to gain now the better prepared I will be when taking more rigorous Spanish courses in my college career.…

At Mid-East it is very important to reflect on the program as a class. Each class that graduates is contacted by their program instructor. This happens about six to nine months after they have graduated. At first I personally didn’t think much of it and thought it was just another task to do, not anymore. I now take this very seriously and also bring it up to my students during the time they are in the program.…

This semester for class instead of reading I chose to work at Beaver Falls elementary school service learning program called Dare2XL. The objective of this program is to help students finish their school work, help them understand their homework and what they are doing in class, all while encouraging the students. Going into the program not knowing what to expect or how to help them, or what I was helping them with, made me nervous and scared. The first day was a little stressful but as we were paired up with one student I was relieved and it wasn’t bad at all. I was paired up with DJ a fourth grader, we worked on his math homework and did extra problems that he was going to learn the next day.…
