Saint Clare spent her whole life being dedicated to scripture and poverty, and that dedication is why she was so admired. She was a strong and active leader, who also was a advocate for responsible stewardship, and that is why so many people believe in her teachings. Dedication, stewardship and leadership are two things that I admire about Saint Clare. I firmly believe in these principles and try to implement them into my daily life. The National Cycling Centre Hamilton, a not-for-profit organization, has been my home for over 6 years, I started cycling competitively at age eleven. My coach Rick is adamant that his athletes do not just learn how to ride bikes fast, he wants us to learn valuable life and people skills. As a kid I did not have many friends or social skills, I barely spoke to anyone when I first started training at the NCCH. Rick wanted to bring me out of my shell and teach me to be a leader. The solution? He offered me a volunteer position. At age thirteen, I began volunteer coaching. It started with kids my own age, kids who had just joined the cycling program, I would ride with them and teach them skills, sometimes holding for fun races for all of …show more content…
I love coaching both the parents and the kids, it is a lot of fun, but it is also a great learning experience. I have been a coach now for over three years and I cannot imagine doing anything else with my spare time! Most kids my age just sit at home, watching tv or playing video games or cramped up in their rooms over-studying their curriculum, when instead they could be out lending a helping hand in their communities. I know a lot of time has been put into me by volunteers throughout my life, for example at bike races, school functions, church plays and fundraisers, and more so I have made it my mission to pay it forward as much as I can by volunteer coaching. It is easy to give up your time when one is doing something that brings them so much

Brian Gallagher has many leadership theories according to his behavior in changing United Way and put it on the track again. Firstly, he raised some questions about the mission of United Way: was it to raise funds or to have an impact on communities? And he answered it as: we are concerned about changing people's lives; fundraising is the strategy to do so. He knew the problem and acts according to this. Throughout the summer I decided that I wanted to spend most of my time volunteering at youth cheerleading camps. Not only did I get the chance to interact with younger girls and set a good role model, but I also got the chance to work with other girls my age who have talent and loves cheerleading just as much as I do! The two camps I was a part of was the Danny Lansanah Football/Cheerleading Camp and the Packers & Broncos Cheerleading Camp. Both camps were located at John Harris High School for ages 5-14 and were free with food provided. During both camps my job was to focus on the basic skills you need to learn to become a cheerleader and also make up a routine to teach the girls.…

Throughout my four years of high school, the seaside community of Narragansett, Rhode Island, has encouraged and nurtured the growth of its youthful inhabitants as students and individuals. The supportive environment and abundant opportunities available for students to pursue their passions and help others consequently benefits the community as a whole. As an athlete, and more specifically, a runner, I have aspired to motivate and encourage young athletes to enjoy the fun and friendships that emerge from being a part of a sports team. During the summer, I volunteered at the Summer Youth Track Series at Narragansett High School. Eager smiles painted the faces of the joyous young runners lining up in heats, ready to run as fast as they can in the 100 meter sprint, throw as far as they can in the turbo javelin, and jump as far as they can in the long jump.…

A leader, as generally known, should be someone who possesses the ability to lead by example. In Ken Kesey’s novel One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, R.P. McMurphy is a patient in an asylum crusading against the tyranny of the head nurse, Nurse Ratched. Both McMurphy and Nurse Ratched use their resources and attributes to the fullest, yet only one of these leaders can persuade the patients to take the position of the respective side. McMurphy’s genuine and unique personality assists him in swaying the patients. On the contrary, Ratched’s emotionless, business-like approach prevents her from being sentimentally affected.…

There are many godly acts that make a person pious. Being humble, helping others, sacrificing, those are all aspects of living a faith filled life. In the ancient world although personal sacrifices were impressive and viewed as pious, the most important action necessary for being viewed as pious, was caring for the poor. Being generous was viewed as the most important, even in the eyes of God, as shown through his miracles. St. Clare did a remarkable job at caring for the poor and she can be used as a strong example and role model.…
