As stated by Mae West, “You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.” For centuries, Saint Cecilia has been one of the most respected and adored saints. Born in the 3rd century, Saint Cecilia lived a righteousness life and never lost her faith. She was also the patroness of musicians who “sang in her heart to the Lord” (Rabipour). As one of the seven women honored in the Canon of the Mass, Saint Cecilia’s feast day is celebrated on November 22 these days ("St. Cecilia - Saints & Angels - Catholic Online"). Saint Cecilia’s experience motivates me to be a better person and musician.
First of all, Saint Cecilia had long-lasting faith in a time that faith was despised. According to tradition, Saint Cecilia was raised by Christian parents and was arranged to marry a noble, Valerian. However, Saint Cecilia had already dedicated herself to God at a younger age. After the wedding, Saint Cecilia described her vow to Valerian, who was influenced by his wife and later converted into Christianity. Even though the couple’s lives were threatened as a consequence of their religious practice, they did not abandon their faith. An executioner was sent to kill Cecilia, but a miracle happened; Saint Cecilia survived three more days after three heavy blows

One of her priorities in life was to demonstrate paths towards God by faith to others. She spent lots of time evangelizing and sharing information about Christian beliefs. God was shown in her life because he ultimately provided Saint Cecilia with the power to reach out. In addition, Saint Cecilia has been known as a patron saint of music on account of her love for music and willingness to share her music with others (“Saint Cecilia”). God was revealed in her musical talent as it was essentially a gift and talent from God. In short, Saint Cecilia’s life helped me see God and understand him more fully as God was the fundamental source behind all of her
