St. Anthony of Padua, the patron saint of recovering lost things or lost people, was born in 1195 in Libson and died on 13th June 1231 in Padua. His feast day is June 13. He is generally prayed to for intercession for lost things, many times people ; and is also prayed to when people are lost spiritualy.

St. Anthony of Padua was born in 1195, in Libson Portugal as Fernando Martins de Bulhoes. He was raised by a rich family and was taught in a Cathedral near by. His father, Vicente Martins, was a army commander and is said to have commanded the first one of the Crusade. His mother ,Theresa Tavejra, was of royal decent. While there he took up the name Anthony. Very soon after joining the order he started his journey to Morocco, which was the same place the first martyrs of the Franciscan Order died. Shortly after starting his journey his plans to go to Morocco were discontinued due to a severe sickness. In the spring of 1221, Fernando wanted to sail back to Spain, however a storm made Fernando stop in Sicily, a large island off the coast of Italy. Later on Anthony( Fernando Martins de Bulhoes), went to an ordination of some Fransiscan and Dominican friars. When it was time for the ordination, they found out none of them had been designated to preach the friars had declined. So as back up they made Anthony, he preached so well that St.Fransis was notifyed. After that he was designated a preacher in Italy, and also designated to teach theology, the study of God and belief. There is also an account of a miracle happening some time after St. Francis’s death. Anthony and a follower go to the house of a poor woman, they are offered food and wine, his follower accidentally breaks the glass and the woman forgot to close the wine barrel, so Anthony began praying and suddenly the glass is just like it was before it was broken and the barrel was full.
