Social media applications should not be held legally responsible – like in the case of Snapchat and Christal McGee because there is no motive/behavior.
In this case, if McGee invited someone to sit in her car and let this person to use Snapchat and they did drive at a normal speed, the accident would not have happened.
Not using phone when driving is a common sense and so is Not over speedy.
It is not Snapchat’s responsibility but McGee’s.
In this case, social media applications just acted as a common tool.
It was not subject but object. Most of people used the applications for good purpose and intention.
All the wrong motive/behavior came from McGee herself in this case.
We can not ask a common tool or its supplier to take the legal responsibility in case that this tool is misused by someone for criminal purpose because there is no such as a law currently, …show more content…
This depends on how clearly users are warned before using the applications.
If the warn is clear enough, it means the applications do not intend to mislead the users.
If the warn is ambiguous, it means the applications intent to mislead the users or its carelessness.
In my opinion, the Snapchat’s speed filter function, before being used every time, shall warn the used in both text and voice that it has potential risk. By doing so, the applications should not be held morally responsible. ***************
