On August 26 2017, SSgt Tun and his family drive up to North Cascade National Park and camped the night at Goodell Creek Campground.
SSgt Tun and family left the camp on the morning of Sunday, August 27 2017. While driving to exist the park on two lanes mountain highway, he witnessed a motorcycle accident right only 500 feet away from his moving vehicle. The accident involved a 63-year old motorcyclist, Joel Oestriech of Olympia was traveling Westbound on State Route 20 on his 2006 Harley Davidson. Mr. Oestriech attempted an illegal pass and stuck an eastbond Toyota Sienna van. As soon as SSgt Tun saw the accident, he immediate stopped and got out of the vehicle, rushing to the scene. SSgt Tun directed his wife to call emergency responders
