SSG Gotschall served as a Senior Small Group Leader at the NCO Academy; his exceptional performance and dynamic teaching ability enabled him to successfully train and develop over 350 Arctic Soldiers, six Nepalese Soldiers and two Airmen. He was selected by the Commandant as the winner of the 2nd Quarter FY14 NCO Academy competition board. SSG Gotschall's unparalleled performance, dedication to students and contributions to the academy earned him the "Instructor of the cycle" for class 004-14 and 001-15.

SSG Gotschall served as the NCOIC and narrator for the BLC graduation ceremony for 24 months; his commitment to excellence and finest military traditions led in the successful graduation of over 1,200 USARAK Soldiers over 22 graduation ceremonies. His intrinsic leadership qualities allowed him to successfully mentor over 350 Soldiers over 800 academic hours, earning the Basic Army Instructor Badge. SSG Gotschall dedicated personal time

SSG Gotschall spent 20 hours improving the Academy grounds as well as the safety for Students. He assisted in creating and constructing a real time 10 acre land navigation orienteering course. The live training capabilities and functionality of the course, led to a 20 percent increase on first time goes and raised situational awareness insuring the safety and return of all students during the land navigation evaluation requirements.

SSG Gotschall's dedication to training Soldiers and enhancing his unit was displayed during his assignment to the 164th Military Police Company. He served admirably while assigned as a Squad Leader; he was a vital asset in leading his Soldiers and company in winning the annual CSM Mark L. Farley Award as the "Best MP Company" in USARPAC. SSG Gotschall was instrumental certifying 17 separate fire teams and training subordinate leaders to work as Patrol Supervisors for the Company Law enforcement
