Strom Thurmond was born on December 5, 1902 in Edgefield, South Carolina. Thurmond was the son of successful lawyer, John William Thurmond. Strom Thurmond graduated in 1923 from what is now called Clemson University with a degree on horticulture. Strom Thurmond ended up serving in the senate from South Carolina, running for presidency in 1948 receiving 2.4% of the popular vote and 39 electoral votes.
Donald Trump was born June 14, 1948 in Queens, New York City, NY. Trump was born the son of prominent real estate developer Fred Trump. When Jake Tapper asked Donald Trump about the recent endorsement from former Klansman David Duke, who told his supporters that “voting for anyone but Trump would be treason to your heritage.” Donald Trump responded by saying “Well just so you understand, I don’t know anything about David Duke, OKs? I don’t know anything about what you’re even talking about with white supremacy or white supremacists.” CNNs host Jake Tapper follows up by saying “I’m just talking about David Duke and the Ku Klux Klan here.” Donald Trump continues to behave oblivious by responding with he would need to first “do research”, “Certainly I would disavow if I thought there was something wrong”, “Honestly, I don’t know David Duke. I don’t believe I’ve ever met him. I’m pretty sure I didn’t meet him, and I don’t know anything about him.” However, contradictive to these recent statements Trump has made regarding David Duke there is proof showing otherwise. Trump recognized David Duke as a Klansman in 2000 when he ended his run for presidency.
