Spyware On Teens: Article Analysis

I agree with Harlan Coben’s article about putting spyware on teens computers to monitor the dangers that they might face on the internet. There are many dangers on the internet that parents might not know of. Such as, someone faking their identity and pretending to be the teens age when they’re not. Also there’s a less chance of a teen getting into trouble by monitoring them online. Lastly teens may think they have privacy on the internet when there really isn’t any. Like I said before, someone can fake their identity by just uploading some other teen’s picture and pretending to be them. It can really cause a problem if a parent doesn’t know that their teen was talking to an older stranger they didn’t know. This can lead to kidnapping by finding out where the teen lives. They would find out where they live because the teenager might think that the other teen is the same age and just wants to meet up to know each other. Also if your teen is talking to a stranger, they might share personal things and then the stranger that faked their identity can post everything online, where the world can see it. …show more content…
For example, a teen can be planning something bad or want to do something bad and if a parent was watching over them that wouldn’t be an issue. This wouldn’t be an issue because before the parent even monitors their teen they should have to warn them that they’re going to be watching over them on the internet. Then the teen wouldn’t plan to do anything bad or getting into trouble.
