Sprout City: A Case Study

Our city is named Sprout City. It is based on the manufacturing of steel and it follows the multiple nuclei model. We have chosen to base our manufacturing on steel because currently it is the leading construction material for sustainability. This essential to a city because when a city manufactures something that is commonly used or demanded a lot it will have a higher economy. This benefits both the basic industry and everyone else because steel is used for the building of roads, railroads, and other infrastructure. The multiple nuclei model is the best model to base our city on because since Sprout city manufactures steel and steel transportation kind be quite expensive, this model allows us to have the transportation cost even within the city. In addition, this model gives everyone the opportunity to have the resources evenly distributed, which is important when a city contains different residential classes.

The way that we have set up our city makes sense because the central business district is the focal point of a city, which is reasonable if it is in the middle. This allows for the city to be able to kind of evolve around the CBD. In other words the CBD is mostly consumer service based and that is what everyone outside of the CBD desires or needs to have.
