You asked the following question: “We are currently working on a NFPA 13R designed building that has an open and attached porte-cochere. The AHJ follows the 2007 edition of this standard. In section 6.9.5 of NFPA 13R (2007 Edition) sprinklers are not required in any porches, balconies, corridors, and stairs that are open and attached. Porte-cocheres are not specifically listed in this section, but I would assume the reason for not requiring protection for the specifically noted items above would also apply for open and attached porte cocheres.…

This paper will explore depictions of marriage in Thomas King’s novel Green Grass, Running Water and how rejections of hierarchal male-female relationships, specifically by female characters, parallel and aide rejections of cultural oppression of First Nations, establishing a new basis for equality. King’s female characters remove themselves from positions of subservience, maintaining the autonomy and equality also hoped for but oft denied in First Nation’s relations with colonizing forces. Particularly, Alberta and Latisha each experience relationships easily interpreted as representations of colonialist domination and reject traditional gendered expectations to meet their individual goals, drawing parallels to King’s revision of the accepted narrative of colonial oppression. The behaviour of King’s female characters when faced with such roles demonstrate the intimate relationship between deconstructions of sexism and colonialism, and the desire for a future in which colonialist cultural supremacy has been replaced with community and respect for identity.…

Lawn edgers can be an extremely helpful tool when you want your yard to look perfectly tended and wonderful. If you've ever run by a meticulously tended turf and questioned why the bouquets grow up only in a few parts and never mature beyond border, the answer's: as a consequence of grass edgers.…

I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to meet with your site supervisor Daniel Thursday, October 8th to discuss the off take ditch the village has recently installed at the back of the mill property. I just wanted to touch base with you and make sure that we would receive help from you in clearing out some of the wood chips in the area and creating a swale to help the flow of water reach the ditch. Having the water reach the ditch without obstruction will help it leave your site without traveling to the neighboring property. Daniel also mentioned that snow is piled during the winter time around the area and that there would be no problem leaving enough space for the runoff to make its way to the ditch. We hope by having this,…

In the article "Subverting the "Mainstream" Paradigm through magical realism in Thomas King's Green Grass Running Water” Ibis Gômez-Vega is arguing the use of magical realism - surreal elements incorporated into a realist narrative - in Green Grass Running Water is to “subvert the hegemonic paradigms that inform America culture” about Native Americans (1). Her thesis is portrayed though the creation stories and the four old Indian’s role in the novel. Gômez-Vega evaluates the trickster narrative of the story and how it acts as a “voice of reason in a world” (1-2). The article describes the changing of the creation stories and the relation of magical realism and Native culture. She justifies King’s use of “intertextuality and native myths to…

In order to successfully create an excellent targeting strategy for the self-propelled, robotic lawn mower, I would have to take into account the characteristics of my target market to see which segments are the most feasible and attractive. The segments I should consider are geographic, demographic, and behavioral. I then need to evaluate these markets based on the segment’s structural attractiveness, size and growth, and the company’s resources and objectives. Luckily, since there is a lack of competitors, there are lowered barriers to entry. Since there are several traits of my target market that I would want to attract, I would use a differentiated marketing strategy in order to cater to and appeal to the most accurate market possible.…

Colonialism Effects in King’s Green Grass, Running Water King’s novel is credited with its symbolic representation of the events that transpired in America following the invasion of the Europeans. It figuratively details the broken promises and damages that resulted from the interactions between Native Americans and the Europeans during the developments on their lands. Primarily, it is notable that through the title, King seeks to highlight the promises that were made by the Europeans in regards to the rights of the Native Americans, that they would “have rights over their lands as long as the water runs and the grass is green” (Maithreyi 2). King discusses the widespread exploitation of the natives and their land…
