Diagnosing The Most Common Sprinkler Problems
Sprinkler systems are a great way to irrigate your lawn and give it the water it needs to look beautiful and healthy. Unfortunately, these systems often suffer from a wide range of problems. If you're having issues with your sprinkler system, check for these common problems.
The Pressure is Wrong
One of the most important aspects of your sprinkler system is the water pressure. If it is too low, you won't get enough water coming out, but if it is too high, you may actually over-water your lawn. Thankfully, testing the water pressure of your sprinkler faucet is relatively easy:
Purchase a water pressure gauge at a local hardware store
Attach it to the faucet where you connect your sprinkler
Turn off all the water in the home, even the ice maker
…show more content…
If it is regularly below (or even above) this mark, call a water system repair specialist right away to have them adjust your pressure.
The Sprinkler Head is Dirty
After you've checked and adjusted your water pressure, you should move on to the sprinkler heads. These often get clogged with dirt and debris and mess up the function of your sprinkler system. Cleaning sprinkler heads is an easy process that just about any homeowner can perform:
Carefully lift the sprinkler head from the sleeve
Use a screwdriver to carefully remove the screws holding the head to the sleeve
Remove all the heads in your sprinkler
