The Spring Festival—is the traditional Lunar New Year in the Chinese cultural circle. It is the most ceremonious traditional festival of the Chinese nation. During the Spring Festival, China’s Han and some other minorities have held various celebrations. These activities including ancestor worship, blowing away the cobwebs and praying for a good harvest. Influenced by Chinese culture, some other countries and nations have adopted the custom of celebrating the Spring Festival. People back home reunite with their families, eagerly looking forward to the coming year and a better life for the New Year blessing. Spring Festival is not just a festival, but also a way for the Chinese people to release emotions, psychological demands, and to meet an important carrier of the Chinese nation. It is the annual carnival and eternal spiritual support.

This year’s Spring Festival is on February 8th in the Gregorian calendar. This is the second time I didn’t return home for the Spring Festival. NSU Chinese students and the international office hold Spring Festival Gala at UC ballroom. We prepared traditional Chinese food, all kinds of games, wonderful performances, and traditional culture shows. We prepared everything we could to celebrate the Spring Festival abroad. Although we cannot go home, we still feel a deep festive atmosphere. And many Americans came to celebrate the Chinese New Year with us. It is also a special experience for us to celebrate the Chinese New Year in foreign countries.
But traditional Chinese New Year is not that easy in China. Normally, the Spring Festival beginning on the 23rd of the lunar December and ending on Lantern Festival on 15th of the lunar January. People hold various celebrations during this period. Students will have a month’s vacation. Companies and the government will have a few days
