Spring Dance Burlesique

The Spring Dance Concert was absolutely phenomenal, everyone dedicated their passion into the show! Personally, my favorite(s) were the senior pieces especially the other shows. That is to say, I liked the theme of “Muddy Waters” along with the costume, choreography, and overall it’s outstanding.“Burlesque” is amazing I loved the choreography because it’s sassy, which fits with the costume. Also, the concert is beautiful specially the effects, costumes, and the positive vibes from the other girls too! The performance was astounding although I wish I would’ve done better because I wasn’t focused as well as terrified except my family plus strangers complimented me. I am happy with the final outcome of this experience I enjoyed every part of

Over this week I attended a mishmash of performances. They ranged from good to mixed to awful. Let's start with the good: a fun, entertaining performance of Le Corsaire from ABT. This season at ABT the principal women have been falling like flies due to injury (currently, Isabella Boylston, Veronika Part, Gillian Murphy and Maria Kochetkova are on the DL list). What this has meant is lots of opportunities for soloists, and the 6/8 performance showcased the talents both of veteran soloist Sarah Lane (Gulnare) and the newer Skylar Brandt (Medora).…

This was my favorite because it sounded like a more modern song and an easy song to dance to! If more jazz performances were like this one song, I would go all of the time. This song woke me up and was very upbeat. I liked that we got to see the two assistant conductors perform since they are going to be doing this on a daily basis. They did a very good job.…

Over all, I enjoyed the musical Spring Awakening. I thought it portrayed how religion was so strict during this time well. It also opens people’s eyes to show that there are students, parents, and teachers who go through life experiences like this and that if we are very open about everything including sex then we can work through these situations. I enjoy the theater as well, although it was small, the way it was set up was like you were part of the show being only 3 feet away from the actors.…

The music of the concert was nice to me and the different movements sung and played by the chorus and orchestra made me feel various types of emotions. Being able to choreograph and perform in dance concert is a very unique and amazing experience. Creating ideas with everyone around you and transforming those ideas into a masterpiece is a process like no other. With everyone’s opinions out in thin air, you can put all of your ideas into one to create something so beautiful. In Modern especially it was really intriguing to watch the whole process of how the dance was created. Since we did originally have a combo to go off of, it was different watching all the different groups create a combo over the steps but just in a different format.…

    Rocky Horror Show: Review

Rocky Horror Show Review Rocky Horror Show most definitely lived up to the sense of style it should have had. There was much sexual humor present throughout the show especially from the actors that sat in the audience. They kept up the sexual humor so the actors on stage could go somewhere with their scene and create a plot. There was much audience interaction because of the prop bags (that was a great way to help the audience be involved), and with the whole play starting with Magenta in the audience and ending with the dancers doing the Time Warp in the aisles.…

On Tuesday November 15 2016, we had our very first concert of the year, our jazz concert which was called Jazz It Up. Many people were impressed not just by the 7th graders, but also varsity voices and us 8th graders. We were all great on our songs, and I especially liked the 7th graders songs. Mrs. Hjelm was amazing as she always is when she directs us and when she is our teacher. As always though a few things needed to change.…

Dance Tramp was a dance performance like I’ve never seen before. There were times throughout the performance where I had no idea what was going on or why. I wouldn’t even be surprised to find out that the performers didn’t either. The show was essentially a compilation of silliness and humor that I’m glad to have witnessed. The most ridiculous of all was the part at the very beginning, where two dancers were wearing a conjoined black costume and spun around the stage holding a bouquet of flowers before the lights came on.…

I loved the concert I selected because all the performers had different genres which allowed me to hear a little bit of everything. I enjoyed all the performances and all the performers had amazing voices. Sara Bareilles and Alison Krauss were my favorite performers. They have voices like angels and when they sang it gave me goosebumps and I wanted to just sing along, but I sang in my head because I can not sing. I liked all of the performers except for O Tu Palermo from Vespri because I couldn’t understand what he was saying because it was in a different…

The emotions expressed by not only the music but by how the musicians looked while playing these pieces made me believe that this show meant a lot to them because they would sway to the music when they weren’t playing. It had my emotions spiral out of control because some of the music was happy then it turned sad in an instance, then it would go right back to something whimsical. It’s not the typical kind of music that I would listen to daily but I am happy that I got to attend this event and hear something that I wouldn’t normally.…

As the audience began to fill the large arena theatre at the St. Louis America’s Center dome I got felt that everyone in that room was there to hear great music. Before Beyoncé took the stage the prelude was very musical as well. The arena had background music playing to keep the audience entertained. The concert took place on Saturday September 10,2016 at The Dome at America 's Center in St. Louis. The concert headlined Beyoncé only and there were no other performers during this concert.…

Opening night, the dancers that performed in the University Dance Theatre production, had talent, agility, and graceful movements. The concert had a variety of dance genres, visual appeal, and emotions that each piece and the show overall represented. Humor, drama, and serenity were not emotions I thought I would receive while watching these dances. One thing I did not realize would make many of the pieces was how crucial and reliant lighting and graphics were necessary to make the piece more visually interesting. However, I was excepting similar dances and movements; even if, some pieces had comparable choreography and emotional appeal the diversity stood out.…

The performance attempted to give a dark but loving story which will keep you amused throughout the whole concert. I learned a lot about the choreographers in the performance by the way they presented themselves. Presentation means a lot and the way they proceeded was professional. The dance was successful to a point where everyone in the audience was thrilled and amazed from the performance. Practice makes perfect and the only way to improve is to try and do it over and over…
