Spring Choral Concert Reflection

I went to the Spring Choral concert. I had never been to an actual choir concert, but my school choir often performed at pep rallies and had other performances throughout the year so I had a basic idea of what was going to happen. When I arrived I was surprised by how full the concert was. The first concert that I had gone to was probably only a third to a half full, but this one was completely packed from top to bottom. It’s a very different atmosphere with a full house. Everyone seemed really excited and there was a lot of energy in the room which wasn’t present at my first concert that I attended. I think you could also feel some of the nervous energy of the performers as they stood up on stage waiting for the performance to begin. The theater at Roberts hall is very different than the theater at my …show more content…
I feel a little more comfortable at classical concerts now than I did the first time I went to one this semester. In terms of broadening my appreciation for classical style music, I was impressed by how upbeat and fun some of the songs that were performed were. It was actually a very entertaining concert. I would definitely recommend someone to go see the UAH choir, because they are a very impressive group and have really nice voices. I also really liked how the conductor would give us background information before the songs were performed, because this isn’t normally something that is done at a pop or rock style concert. I liked hearing about the events going on around the times in which these songs were created. Sometimes at “standard” concerts you don’t really understand a piece unless you go home and look up the meaning. There is also something nice about natural voices and musical instruments that haven’t been auto tuned or amplified. It gives the concert a more intimate feeling. I don’t know if I would give up my normal genres of music for classical style, but they do have their place and they can be quite

I attended the American Landscapes performed by Oklahoma State University Symphony Orchestra and Dr. Thomas Dickey conducted the orchestra. The concert was held at the Serentean Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. At the concert, I was an amateur, listener to this type of music. I had never witnessed a live performance of this musical style before. I would consider myself to be a passive listener.…

I loved the last piece in the third movement because it was played very well and it is an iconic piece. I had different emotions for the individual pieces were I felt at ease, delighted, and anxious with a dynamic feeling when the pieces go fast paced. This time I remembered the fast parts since I expected than the other first concert. The most memorable was Moonlight, presto movement. For the chamber groups they projected a playful vibe between each other enjoying when it alternates to one another.…

On November 12, 2015 I attended the Veterans Day Jazz free form concert held at CBC’s choir room. This was the first time I ever went through the music/art building and it was pretty cool. The choir room looked, well like a choir room; inspirational posters on the wall, instruments, sound system, etc. When I first walked into the room I was bit overwhelmed with the amount of people in the small to medium sized room. There was a total of three high schools performing and of course CBC.…

We were going to hear them sing, to us, and it was amazing. When you think about seeing someone in concert you think about someone you have been dying to see. The night before we left for Shakopee, I studied the bands, what kind of music they played and what they sounded like. Very few of them became favorites, as I am very picky the kind of music I listen to. I was scared because I was still fairly new to this, but by the end of the night I wasn’t scared…

I do not think any words could have truly described how I nor the rest of the audience felt during that performance. The opinions and analogies of the pieces found in the program notes did slightly influence me. I agreed with and understood most opinions and comments of the performances. The listenings I did for my pre-concert assignment were not nearly the same thing as being in the auditorium. It was a completely different experience to see, hear and feel the performance in person as opposed to watching a video on a screen and trying to listen to the depth of the orchestra through…

On Sunday June 12th, I attended the Oklahoma Community Orchestra Concert. This event took place at the Oklahoma Christian University Pavilion. The Concert started at 7:30pm and it was free for everyone.this was my first concert in a long time, since middle school. I got there exactly at 7:30pm, which made it hard for me to get a seat and a clear view of the concert. There were a lot of people there which meant that this was going to be a very good concert.…

Jazz Night Concert Report The concert that I chose to attend was Jazz Night which was held at the Arnette Scott Ward performing Arts Center on the Pecos campus. I decided to show up to this performance because I have always had an appreciation for the skill and talent it requires to play an instrument. I was pleased by the concert because I heard a wide spectrum of timbre, and I was especially thrilled because I got to hear the brassy sound given off by the trumpets. I used to be a trumpet player…

I’m sitting alone in the front pew of the University of Virginia Chapel on a cold December night. In front of me there is a tall metal stand with a set of bongos perched precariously atop. Behind me sits the entire crowd of the sold out Virginia Women’s Chorus Candlelight Concert. When I arrived in Charlottesville months earlier, I could have never expected to be here. I have just finished performing a piece with the chorus minutes earlier, when a member of the chorus steps forward and addresses the audience to explain and introduce the next piece.…

Walking into the auditorium, I immediately noticed that the atmosphere of the concert was completely different from that of the classical concert I attended weeks earlier. To begin with, it seemed like there was much more of an audience. Everyone seemed excited for the concert to start. As for myself, I was also excited because, on the very front of the program, it said that there was a guest artist that was going to perform with the ensemble. The performers wore more of a business casual look, some were a little more dressed up than others, but overall they looked very well dressed.…

New York Philharmonic is one of my favorite places to listen to the western classical music. I always have a great positive sense after a concert. To be honest with you, the idea of attending live events is really good and useful for every student. The goal of our educational system is to make people study not only their major material, but also be well rounded and can have a conversation on different topics in other fields of studies. Live musical assignment helps the students improve their knowledge by first learning the theory in the classroom and let use critical thinking ability later during the live musical…

On Thursday, September 29th at 7:30pm I attended the LU Symphony Orchestra Concert in Towns Auditorium. Prior to the concert beginning, I noticed a wide variety of instruments on the stage. There were some instruments that I did not know the name of but for the most part, I knew a large majority of the string, woodwind and brass instruments presented. The last time that I went to a symphony was when I was in elementary school, so attending an orchestral concert in college was a much different experience. I was fascinated by the diversity of instruments.…
