During Spring Break 2017, I received words that I never thought I would hear “Grandma is in the hospital, we’re driving down to see her. We leave in fifteen minutes”, said my dad. My grandmother is the type of grandmother who takes you out at 10:30 at night to get ice cream. She makes the best meatloaf for miles and she gives the best hugs. Her hugs feel like a cup of hot chocolate on a cold winter day. I never realized how much of that I took for granted. Over the next few weeks, my grandmother went through multiple major surgeries and health failures. Luckily, she never passed away. Before going to the hospital, my grandma was never in the best of health. She smoked when she was in her twenties and thirties and usually always had a stomachache
