I believe I would be a good candidate for Columbia University’s SPREP Program because I am a focused young woman who is ready to take the first step to achieving my life goal. Despite being twelve years old, I am very determined to become a doctor. I have a passion for helping people, especially the poor and marginalized, and wanting to make a difference in the lives of others. I currently volunteer with a local community service group that cleans up the community of Woodside.
My main focus as of now is to dedicate myself to my academic studies in my final year of middle school so that I may attend a good high school. I am looking to attend a high school that will offer me the opportunity to explore the medical field while meeting the requirements of the curriculum. Going into my long term goals, I plan on completing a bachelor’s degree in the field of science and then attending medical school.
This program is a great opportunity for me to begin exploring the medical field, and an early start on my long

I have always wanted to make a difference in the lives of those who lack access to health care, which is why I want to pursue a career in the medical field. One of my goals is to travel to Ecuador, where my family is from, and set up clinics in many of the neighborhoods there. I am a firm believer of the idea that “hands that give are hands that receive.” That is why upon being successful I want to work with the minority youth and give them the tools available to succeed in life. Being a minority I know how difficult the road is, but my mother always told me “where there is a will, there is a way.” Another reason is because I am the third of six children; therefore, I wish to set a good example for my younger brothers by teaching them it is never to early to put your dreams into action; a lesson that I learn from my older siblings. I would like for SPREP to be my first step to me leaving my mark on the

I have always appreciated what I learn from classes as a Exercise Health Science major at UMass Boston. I believe that the Czech Hospital Placement is a great program to justify all my learnings so far and give me the chance to implement what I learn in school to a live clinical setting. I chose this program because of the many experiential learning opportunities offered. The major attraction for me was the opportunity to shadow a doctor on a daily basis. Unlike other shadowing programs, CHP assign mentors who are healthcare professionals specialized in the field I am interested in.…

However, my familiarity with the details of medicine expanded at age 15 when I began to volunteer at the C.A.R.E. Clinic, which provides medical care for the uninsured. My internship at a medical examiner’s office exposed me to the anatomy and physiology of the human body and the medical causes of death. In college, I explored medicine by volunteering in the emergency department at Children’s Hospital and Clinics of Minnesota in St. Paul and participated in a Global Medical Brigades trip to rural Honduras.…
