He continued to receive more revelations from God and through his teachings, had a significant impact on the Muslim world and culture. Muhammed encouraged others to reject their previous accusations about religion and declared that there was only one God, introducing monotheism to many. However, his accusations were regarded as troubling to some. As opposition to Muhammed increased, he was threatened with violence. After years of spreading his word, by 630 C.E. Islam was the dominant religion in Mecca. Muhammed’s sacredness as a Prophet can be shown in that his role was not just to teach others, but instead Muhammed was sent forth to demonstrate to others how they can live by Allah’s word. Additionally, many Muslims strive to be like Muhammed and thus he has had a large effect on Muslim culture. Facial hair is common amongst Muslim men because Muhammed wore it.
