The effects of becoming a pathological gambler are very severe as they can alter an individual’s life. Pathological gamblers will become addicted to gambling, eventually leading them to bad habits. According Robert Ladouceur, “Between 69-76 percent of pathological gamblers report having missed time from work due to gambling” (Ladouceur). Some severe effects of pathological gambling are not paying your bills, mortgage, forging checks, and missing time away from family. Pathological gamblers normally get into debts leading them to embezzle money and forge checks to cover their debts. Not being able to pay their debts will make most pathological gamblers stressed because it can lead to physical damage to them.
