Sports Medicine: A Personal Statement Of Purpose

Outside of my academics, my extracurricular activities that I am a part of, have taught me skills that I can use to pursue my future. I am an ambitious learner and I take note of all the things that may be useful in school or in life. Even though most of these activities ate up my time I wasn’t able to learn all the information that I wanted to but other resources that I had quenched my thirst for knowledge. One of the programs that I was part of was Sports Medicine, it was a program dedicated to exercise and sports science by becoming an athletic trainer to the student athletic teams. We were taught the anatomy and physiology of the human body and how to prevent injuries by assisting the athletic teams during their sports events. It gave me hands on experience by helping rehabilitate and fix patients while in high school. During each practice a team had, we were there in case of injury and we helped them stay hydrated to avoid illness even through the rain and heat. This …show more content…
It is a program that helps promote career opportunities in the healthcare profession and offers a high quality of healthcare to all people. Since I wanted to become a doctor in order to help people I needed to know what kind because most traditional types of doctors like a pediatrician or nurse didn’t appeal to me. I learned the responsibilities of becoming a doctor within this program and how to be compassionate toward situations that might arise when you’re work in healthcare. It is not about the amount of recognition that you receive while being in this profession, but the amount of help you can offer to those around you and the mission of this program is to develop character and to build self-confidence and pride in one’s work, This program has helped me grow and has taught me skills that I can use for a lifetime that I will use to pursue my
