Whether I have been a head coach or a general manager for a semi-professional basketball organization, the core values have remained the same. Those core values are teamwork, trust, commitment, integrity, and accountability. Teamwork is vitally important because it assist me in creating an positive as well as productive environment that is not only conducive for myself but for the individuals that I manage and lead. Trust is essential as well because, Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope” (KJV, 2001). In addition to trust and teamwork, commitment, integrity, and accountability are the other core values that I would teach my team about because; I believe that these three principles not only have a strong correlation to one another but I believe that a team and or an organization can reach a high level of success if they do not commit to the process of becoming great.
