The main objective of the project is to house a complete set of facilities for a number of different sports and activities. However, the project would also serve different functions. Similar to how most large structures attract people, the complex will serve as a landmark for the city. Another function would be traffic decongestion. The proposed Sports complex would include indoor facilities like basketball courts, volleyball courts, and badminton courts and outdoor activities like track and field, and tennis courts. Also included in this proposal would be a dance studio or a gymnasium that can hold different practices for different dance competitions and other indoor activities. Filipinos are known for their passion for sports, more specifically, the sport of basketball. This passion will lead to a more active lifestyle, and in turn, will lead to good health and fitness. However, basketball is not the only active sport for Filipinos. Other activities like badminton, volleyball, dance, and track and field are also played by Filipinos. According to the results of a study, there exists a high percentage of inactivity among Filipino students 11-18 years of age from both private and public schools. And according to the National Nutrition Council (NNC), three out of every ten Filipinos are now obese as of 2015. Both inactivity and obesity are the targets of the sports facility.
