When this essay was first introduced I was thinking about what event I should choose to attend due to the fact that the main focal point was to observe the audience and analyze. I was stuck between attending a sporting event or a play since both atmospheres would be very different. Eventually, fate helped me chose and I attended a sporting event. On Friday, January 13, at 7:00Pm, I decided to watch the Muskegon Risers SC; a local soccer team that my cousin plays for. Now, it was my first time ever attending a game in that arena and I began to take a couple notes just to see what terms fit with the specific audience. Next, audience had a large diverse population. It was mostly soccer fans and relatives of the players. The ages did range; there were many elderly individuals along with many babies that were there. I did take a few notes on how the crowd reacted when the Risers would score versus the other team. I already knew the obvious on how the reaction might be, but I wanted to have something to analyze. The audience responded to the game like any crowd would respond. The suspense and excitement traveled throughout the atmosphere. There were times that I even caught myself reacting the same way. I eventually got so into the game I would have feelings of frustration, happiness and excitement since I was there supporting my cousin. Eventually, you could hear the fans cheering when the team scored and it did impact the player's performance since it encouraged and help give hope to try their best.
