The corporate sport model demonstrates all of these aspect to be true, in regards to sport becoming more about brands, marketing, franchise and such. In the notes, it is mentioned that “spectacles” are “a sort of athletic variety show… an event where the game is not the (only) thing” (Bustad, lecture, 2017). This relates back to both “sportainment” and the corporate sport model. Yes, these corporations may be highly promoted at large sport events, however, it makes watching and eating those unhealthy foods more of a habit, rather than getting involved in the sport itself do (Dickson, 2005). Also, I believe that the impact of sport spectacles have a mixed impact of some positive and some negative. A positive aspect would be the emotions, and fun environment being created with everyone coming together to celebrate this special event whether they are on the losing side, winning side, or not a fan at all.
