Details of the game/sport The game of basketball at the collegiate (NCAA) is divided into two halves, each being 20 minutes long. There overall court size are 94 feet long and 50 feet wide, with the rim being 10 feet tall. During a regular season players play about 30 to 32 games including conference tournament games that starts on November and end early April. Followed by an offseason that last for two months (May & June), early pre-season (July), mid pre-season (August & September), then back into last pre-season. There are two systems of timeouts being used. Games that are not broadcast, teams are allowed four 75-second along with two 30-second timeouts per regulation game. On the other hand, broadcast games allow each team one 60-second timeout along with three 30-second timeouts per game. Each individuals regardless of position being played is constantly fighting for position in order to execute the play to its finest. In the game of basketball it’s obvious that the sport involves running, walking, change of direction (COM) and jumping. In addition, it also requires a short bursts of high-intensity movement. Movements that require each player to use their legs, upper body and core muscles Leg muscle being the most importation factor when playing the game. For it allows them to improve on their explosiveness weather its having a quicker first step or a higher vertical jump. The strengthening their calves, hamstrings and quads are the primary focus of each position. Often players with strong lower body strength, can perform a quicker movement, shoot the ball better and power off the floor faster.
