Sport Management Personal Statement

As a student, I’ve learned there are two secrets to success; having a passion for what you are studying, and also surrounding yourself with knowledgeable people. These are words I take full advantage of when it comes to anything I do in life. Whether I’m learning a new skill, or studying for a class, making sure you are passionate about what you’re doing, and learning from someone who knows more than you is key to growth. While studying Sport Management at University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (UMHB), I confirmed my passion for the Sport Management degree, while also having a rare opportunity to further compete in the sport I love, for that I am grateful. However, after I was unable to compete in football anymore, I found myself searching for more. I started looking for larger opportunities to broaden my education and ultimately decided to branch out. The first thing I did, was google “Top Sport Management Programs in the Nation”. As I took the time to scroll down the list, I froze when at number two, was Texas A&M. I did a little research and decided this was the school I needed to attend. This was …show more content…
I’ve had mentors and coaches that despite setbacks, have helped guide me to where I wanted to go. I am an extremely active person, and love to be outside and play sports whenever I can, although there have been times in which I wasn’t capable of doing so. In high school, I tore my hip flexer and broke my leg, and in college, after unforeseen circumstances in my sophomore year, I was unable to continue playing football. This was when I began to put all my efforts into furthering my love for the game without physically playing it. I believe that having played sports all my life, living that out through college and ultimately winning a National Championship have better prepared me for a Sport Management
