First, I’ll let you know a little bit about me. My family went through overproduction. Because of this, many of my brothers and sisters were not able to survive. When I was around 5 years old, there was a great struggle to survive. With so many environmental factors in the ocean, my family moved constantly. That is, until we finally adapted to the environment. Let's get back to the positive parts of my life. Because I am of the Octopus species, I have eight, long arms. My back two arms mainly function as legs, so that leaves six arms to cook the delicious Krabby Patties. As I was saying, my back two arms have adapted (“to undergo natural selection so that members of a population are, on average, better able to survive and reproduce,”-evolution.berkeley.edu) to push off the ocean floor, so I can get from place to place as I wish. According the online article,”The Giant Pacific Octopus: Enteroctopus dofleini,” Julie Kalupa states,”The other six arms are used as ‘arms’ [and] are expected to be used. They grab objects, feel around, and feed the octopus… There are no bones in the Pacific octopus’s arms, or it’s entire body either, which allows the arms to be very flexible,” (Paragraph 2).
