Growing up we are susceptible to a multitude of inappropriate visual stimulates located on channels made specifically for our age group. I am now twenty years old, and can still sit in front of the television and feel entertained by these so-called “children” shows. There is crude humor plastered throughout each and every episode even though five year olds are capable of soaking in all of this negative culture, just like a sponge soaks up water. Ironically, the worst of them all has to be “SpongeBob Square Pants.” This cartoon is disturbing to say the least, and has the power to rot our children’s minds. Another character is Sandy Cheeks. She is a squirrel of high intelligent standings that lives in what is called a treedome, this is a huge “bubble” where there is an air tight seal keeping all water out. The show does not have an exact sequential order meaning you can watch any episode and not have any information left out, and it is currently on its ninth season. There have been many theories made about the show that depicts it in a not so good light, but one in particular stands out. There are seven deadly sins used in Christianity to signify the negativity of humanity. Each main character of SpongeBob indicates one of these deadly sins. The first deadly sin is pride which would be Sandy in the cartoon. This is a sin because comparing ourselves to others and being as competitive as we are when we are prideful goes against the virtue of humility. Sandy is extremely competitive when it comes to her scientific discoveries and is overly proud of her home state of Texas. The next deadly sin is greed which can be seen within Mr. Krabs. Greed is a sin because people are supposed to be generous, and when we become greedy and want our fair share, we stop thinking of others. Mr. Krabs obsesses over money!
