Along with these elementary operants, there are also more complex verbal behaviors. These complex behaviors include tact extensions and generalization, automatic reinforcement and private events. For Joey, it is hypothesized that the problem behavior of swearing is due to a private event that is occurring because of frustration and misunderstanding of what is being expected from him. Initial Assessment Joey has been referred to the Oak City Applied Behavior Analysis Center to focus on these behaviors. A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) has begun working on Joey’s case.…
During my final years of high school, I met a person who seemed to really like hearing himself talk about himself. Whenever I join my friends with their group discussion, this person, who I’ll refer to as Mick, always tried to swing the conversation about his interests and rattle off his thoughts. I heard once that Mick insulted someone I knew by calling her “inferior” by comparison after he listen about her day in math class. At one point my friends tried to sit him down and explain what he was doing, but instead he tried to appeal to pity and change to direction of their intervention. Instead of listening, Mick kept on trying to monopolize the discussion.…
Picture 1 In picture one we can see a woman who probably posing for a picture or looking on the sky. She looked young and quite attractive. She's wearing a red sweater and a striped T-Shirt. She's having a camera around her neck.…
The settings for all three of these observations were the same; they took place at Dos Gringos. I found myself at this location, because I was invited by an old high school friend. This was my first official bar attending experience since I have turned twenty-one. The plan was after work to meet up with my friend who was going to already be there with a group of her friends. I know generally a bar is not a conventional setting to write about in a scholarly paper.…
Students were asked to go through four presentations and filling out their corresponding. To make sure they weren’t just copying down the information, they were asked to state facts in their own words. Since students were able to do that, I believe the lesson was a success. They also only missed one question on the…
This was a mandatory activity of class work and we had to come up with a competitive business plan. My dad is a businessman and since my childhood, I have seen him working very hard running his business on top and I have seen him using different strategies to run his business which include staying up to date with current demand from around population, provide extraordinary customer service and other marketing strategies. I used to help him with his work during my vacation time. Currently I am working at a local pharmacy, which is filling average of 250 prescriptions a day.…
In the article “How do you learn to walk? Thousands of steps and dozens of falls per day”, experimental research was done to find an answer to how infants learn to walk. Previous research was conducted on this topic, but it did not show anything about how much or how far infants walk, how often they fall, what makes them continue walking after falling, and how these abilities change with development. Researchers have simply focused on the structure of postures from a crawling to an upright walking position and the regular steps of infants on open grounds where they have to use natural locomotion, or the natural ability to move. This process is known as periodic gait.…
My approach for this research was to observe and get information that fit my topic. I wanted to make sure I got information from the teacher, I wanted to get information from just observation that I conducted myself. I think it was a personal research, but also a case study. I wanted to know answers to my questions and help me understand my research topic better. But also it is a case study, because it is a form of qualitative descriptive research that is used to look at individuals, a small group of participants, or a group as a whole.…
For my activity outside of class, I went out to eat with my ESL partner, went to the casino and ended the night playing pool. I had two ESL partners, but unfortunately only one was able to accompany me. At first we had planned to go to Caesars and it was supposed to be with my two ESL partners. Ariadna was not able to make it because the ESL program had a last minute activity, which was to go bowling. Olmedo told me he was still up for the casino because he did not want to go bowling.…
Effectiveness of Hand Hygienerevealed out of 75 identified opportunities to offer patient HH, it was offered on only one occasion. More than half of patients reported they were not offered HH, despite nurses’ acknowledgment of patient HH in controlling and preventing HAIs (Ardizzone, Smolowitz, Kline, Thom, & Larson, 2013). HCPs in an out-patient clinic who stated they frequently avoided touching their face touched it at the same rate as those who reported only occasionally or rarely touching their face (Elder et al., 2014). Although direct observation is expensive and time consuming, it is the gold standard to monitor HH adherence (WHO, 2009). Direct observation typically evaluates simply whether HH was performed, rather than HH quality or effectiveness.…
_____________ Students can fill these sheets of paper out and share positive things that they’d like to say about each other. I would then have them handed out to students at the end of the week. I like the idea of students catching others being good and creating a positive environment. Sometimes children don’t hear positive things being said about them at home. I really want my classroom to be a loving, welcoming, and encouraging environment for all my students.…
When I delivered the teaching session, the experience was an overall success with students showing a clear interest and engaging in the lesson (Table 1, question 10, mean 4.3). The teaching began with a clear introduction to the key learning points for the whole session (Table 1, question 5, mean 4.3), which allowed the students to understand what the session was going to entail. This was beneficial to those who needed to see the big picture to see how topics fit together[1]. I further explained that the session will be split into three sections and explained that certain learning outcomes will be covered in each section. Student feedback stated that there was “enthusiastic teaching in appropriate sized teaching bites.”…
It doesn’t matter where you are, you will always be observing a scene, whether you realize it or not. When going to the location I chose, it was odd trying to think about everything I needed to observe. Usually these observations are things I don’t pay attention to, but I do them anyway. As human beings, we observe with our senses. Our senses include sight, sound, smell, taste and touch.…
However, overall I would keep everything else the same for this lesson. It was very organized, and controlled. Being able to use unique techniques and activities in the classroom I think is very important for learning. Many students learn in different ways, so by being able to come up with several different way it can help all the students in the…
For my first field experience I observed a kindergarten class. The class included 24 students, the teacher, and the student teacher. When I entered the classroom, I was very impressed on how clean it was. The students were able to move around the very well, but it was a little tough for the adults. The students were located in the middle of the room at 4 tables, each seating 6 students.…
