The conflict between the Christians and the Jesus Seminar has been an ongoing struggle since 1985. The Jesus Seminar, founded by Robert Funk, originated in 1985 as around 70 biblical scholars set out to determine the legitimacy of Jesus’ sayings (Dart). The Seminar focused on the historicity of Jesus using the best methods of science and literary criticism as it pertains to the Bible. Funk believed that the gospel writers had made Jesus into a “larger than life” figure in order to satisfy their religious desires. The Jesus Seminar’s goal is to rid the historical figure of Jesus from “Christian legend and myth” and to find out who Jesus really was and what he really said (Craig).…

Jesus is visited by people referred to as wise men, kings, or the magi. The gifts which the magi bring to Jesus are consistently described as gold, frankincense and myrrh. These three gifts were standard gifts to honor a king or deity in the ancient world: gold as a precious metal, frankincense as perfume or incense, and myrrh as anointing oil. While these gifts had a very practical purpose, there is also a great deal of spiritual symbolism in the gifts offered in terms of Jesus as Priest, Prophet and King. Jesus gave us all a better gift: The gift of a clean slate and forgiveness from our sins; all you have to do is take the gift.…

Not only did the scaffolding finally come off the colosseum and the reopening of the Spanish Steps, it was also the official Jubilee Year of Mercy. This year is called the ‘Extraordinary Jubilee’ because it is expected to be larger than the last (held in the year 2000) when 25 million came to Rome.…

Today we are determined to continue to work for greater racial and cultural diversity. All these efforts reflect a modern understanding of universal salvation. Our history has carried us from liberal Christian views about Jesus and human nature to a rich pluralism as our history continues to evolve and unfold, we need to let people be themselves. In the words of my son, Chris “people need to leave people alone, nobody has the right to tell anyone what to do. God say let him judge his flock.”…

In this essay, I will be talking about what I believe to be true from what Jesus tells us in the Bible, about being the Son of God and how He was here to die on the cross for our sins, showing everyone who He was and who ever believe in Him is save, or healed if they were sick. In this paper, I will be talking about the trustworthiness and historicity of the Gospels. The historical reliability of the Gospel accounts of Jesus’ miracles, and did Jesus claim to be God. My passion for English began when I first started reading and found myself asking "What makes a great book?" or "What makes an author remarkable?”. It wasn't until I read Ian McEwan's 'Atonement' that I finally found answers. I loved the idea that a story was being told by an undisclosed narrator who was only revealed at the end of the book. It made me question whether everything I had just read was what actually happened or whether it was made up by the narrator. I loved the idea that a novel could begin in 1935 but end in 1999 because you could see how Britain changed over sixty years within a few hundred pages.…
