I found myself challenged in each scenario as desiring the counsel or pastor the individuals in the scenarios, but as well challenged by key steps of foundational biblical discipleship such as reading and praying every day, confessing sin and finding an accountability partner, focusing on God’s blessings and joining a Bible Study group. Lawless’ book has informed my perspective that, like sanctification, preparing for war is both a temporal, immediate need and as well a long term progressive approach that builds upon Christ’s victories in our own personal lives. Being a Christ follower, as I have learned from this study, is as much about helping others to put on their armor as it is remaining firm and “standing fast” (Holy Bible 2011) in the full armor. Dr. Lawless asks in review about the importance of understanding the inter-dependency of all of the armor, a seemingly direct and simple point that many times, at least in my life, could seem impossible in certain times or seasons. “Do you see how all the armor pieces are interrelated – and thus, why Paul said that we must wear the full armor of God?” (Lawless 2013) . Concluding this study and course of study for which this text serves, indeed I see more fully now the importance of the full armor than at any point in my life prior. My prayer is that from here forward, as I have learned through this course, I will continue to put on the full armor and lead and help others to do the
