On August 26, 2005, I gave my life to Christ, and it was the start of a whole new chapter of my journey. I still remember that night vividly in my head. The feelings of excitement, joy, and love were very tangible in my heart. My mom and dad were both sitting beside me on my bed while I was told the importance of this decision and how my life would never be the same. Even at 5 years old, I was aware of my decision to follow Jesus and accept him into my heart. I was aware of the love He had for me and I was aware that I was to do the same. That night, I made a choice to follow a person whose name is Jesus, and this is the story of my life since then.

I had never really been confronted about my faith in elementary school, so this new time in my life was a struggle. I remember that there were multiple times that bullying had discouraged me more than I had let God encourage me. I quickly learned that not everyone who goes to a Christian school is necessarily a Christian themselves. I was a pastor’s son so kids would use my faith against me in the form of how hypocritical I was or how I should be the perfect Christian. This developed an introverted mindset, one full of anti-sociality and most of all; the pressure to be perfect and to never mess up. This was my life; an insecure student who had almost no friends, and even if he did, they weren’t really the best friends. They were more like acquaintances than friends. My life was not what I wanted it to be. Throughout all of middle school, my life was an empty void with almost no meaning until I decided to fully lean on God and his everyday truths. SEU’s priority on providing a quality Christian education in a spiritually passionate environment is something that I value. I wholeheartedly believe that God calls people, like myself, to be excellent in their field while also being a testimony to those around them. I don’t want to just learn, but I want to become the person that God calls me to be and to have the desire to be an example of who Christ is to those around me. It is in my highest interest to do all of these things, and I believe that SEU is not only the place for me to learn but to be the place I
