Spiritual leadership at time is not popular. James Cleveland, famous gospel singer, has a song on his album that is render at some funeral that I have attended “ Give Me My Flowers”. The song suggest that we should not wait until a person is dead to recognize their good deeds but if they have made an impact while they are living openly communicate your appreciation.

Spiritual leaders sometime lead by conviction even though it cost them their life or the vision if fulfilled after they die. Moses did not enter the promise land. Even though Dr. Martin Luther King was considered a charismatic and transformational leader, he died before he could see his four children live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their

The elders along with the Pastor asked me to become a deacon. As one of the youngest leaders, I asked several questions. What are the criteria of becoming an effective deacon and how long is the training? He smiled and stated, “On the job training starts today”. The following week I attended classroom training, which covered and emphasized Spiritual Leadership. Criteria of being an effective deacon is a good reputation for righteous living, being filled with the Holy Spirit and committed to such a life; wisdom and stable judgment. I will also learn how to effectively serve people. As a servant, I am tasked with putting the people first, listening and earning and keeping the trust of others. This is a tough challenge but proper training and balance has allowed me to grow and develop into a more effective

In previous assignments, I distinguished between authentic and servant leadership approaches. Authentic leadership focuses on qualities that help leaders to be perceived as trustworthy and believable by their followers (Northouse, 2012). One of the many strengths of authentic leadership is that it fulfills a need for trustworthy leadership (Northouse, 2012). According to Northouse (2012), servant leaders put followers first, empower them, and help them develop their full personal capacity. Servant leaders build strong relationships with others by giving followers the support they need, involving them in decisions, and building a sense of…

A leader is someone who leads a group, while an effective leader is someone who not only leads, but also listens. To me, the Rabbi at my synagogue, Rabbi Mark, is an effective leader. During a sermon at Yom Kippur services, Rabbi Mark stated, “Sometimes we need to stop and listen to what others have to say.” Even if we disagree with a person or we are in a hurry, it still important to stop and listen to others perspectives. Once we learn about others perspectives we can truly show compassion for others and become effective leaders.…

Servant Leadership I was reading from Oswald Chambers as a small part of my devotional hour recently and read the following which just leaped off the page at me. John 13:13 Ye call Me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am The curious thing about Our Lord is that He never insists on our obedience. When we begin to usurp authority and say “You must” and “you shall” it is a sure sign that we are out of touch with the supreme Authority.…

I could not fathom why God would want me to serve his church and his people when there were obviously more qualified people he could choose. This was definitely a stumbling block for me early in my ministry. I doubted my abilities and calling and therefore, didn’t totally surrender my life or calling to God. Thankfully, we have a God that, in spite of my weaknesses, used me to further his kingdom and reach people that don’t yet know Him. Those experiences and interactions helped to confirm my calling in full-time…

True and significant life is found in Jesus Christ and because of my firm conviction of this it has been my primary objective to point people to Jesus. Being persuaded that Christ wants Christians and especially those who take leadership roles to minister to the needs of others, I have ordered my life to conform to that conviction. Ultimately, Jesus desires that each Christian serves him by serving others; this is accomplished in a variety of ways – feeding those who are hungry, teaching everyone the life saving Gospel, and by leading in a way that reflects the glory of Christ. It has been my immense pleasure to have had the opportunity to preach God’s Word to thousands of people over the past fifteen years. It is my sincere passion to see people embrace Christ Jesus as their Lord and savior and to be transformed by the renewing of their minds through the Word of God.…

Prior to this course, I perceived leaders as people who told a group of people what to do in order to accomplish a task. When I was put in a leadership position I was always effective, but I never really took the thoughts or feelings of others into consideration.…

Compare & Contrast Leadership Styles In our text, Leadership is defined as “An area of study marked by the examination of the behaviors of others” (p.378). After reading about the three styles of leadership which are transformational, transactional, and servant leadership, I instantly thought about a scripture which says “Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock” (1 Peter 5:2-3, New International Version). Before I start uncovering the similarities between theses three leadership styles, I’m going begin by defining…

There is a difference between spiritual leadership and church, fellowship, ministry and organisational leadership. Leadership is not spiritual because it was set up by a church or a religious body. A more radical way of saying this is that leadership is not spiritual because it was instituted by a spiritual man or woman. The experience of Samuel in the house of Jesse gives credence to this assertion. Samuel was a spiritual man, but if he had anointed Eliab as king of Israel because he saw and admired certain qualities in Eliab, his spirituality would not have made Eliab's leadership spiritual.…
