He was told that it was safe he was just Following orders, he wore a gas mask and special clothes and was escorted into a 10-foot by 10-foot chamber, which was then locked from the outside. Sulfur mustard and Lewisite, poisonous gasses used in chemical weapons, were released into the chamber and for one hour each day for five days, the seaman sat in this noxious vapor, on the final day he became nauseous, his eyes and throat began to burn, and he asked twice to leave the chamber. On March 4, 1993, Jim Valvano was awarded the inaugural Arthur Ashe Courage and Humanitarian Award at the first ESPY Awards. Jim Valvano, nicknamed Jimmy V, was a college basketball player, coach, and broadcaster. Jim had an excellent coaching career, coaching for many teams, but most prominently at North Carolina State University. Despite being weakened from his fight against cancer, Jimmy V delivered an inspiring and energetic speech at the 1993 ESPY Awards with a goal to encourage the audience to donate to cancer research. Spirit week is a time for people to show their spirit for the school they go to, but is it necessary. Most school around the country have a week once a school year where people can participate in certain activities to show off their school spirit. Do schools really need it though. Even though students can express their school spirit, spirit week is not educational, can be a distraction, and is not particularly popular. For these reasons i believe that spirit week is not needed.…
Thank you so much for the classroom set of scissors and the concept story books. My multiple handicap and fourth grade students have greatly enjoyed the books. My multiple handicapped classes favorite has been "What a Wonderful World." Though it is music class I work with these students on reading skills through songs.
