Scientists have recently discovered Dreadnought, a very large plant-eating dinosaur. Dreadnought is the world’s largest dinosaur measuring 85 feet wide and weighing in at 65 tons (130,000) pounds, It was 7x more massive than the Tyrannosaurus rex (T-rex). It was named after the first steel battleships. When discovered in Argentina the Dreadnought’s skeleton had 70% of its bones, making it one of the most complete dinosaur fossils to be found. Sadly the skull wasn’t preserved.…

Tyrannosaurus had approximately 60 wide and dull serrated teeth. Tyrannosaurus used its front teeth that were closely packed to grip and pull while using its side teeth that are more widely spaced for tearing flesh. The teeth had a curve, reinforcing ridges and robustness structure in order to withstand forces while killing their prey.(8) Its long tail might possibly responsible for supporting the balance of the whole body during the run. However, the function of its tiny forelimb is still unclear.…

As the Earth goes through time, we began to see that the species that were developing were slowly evolving into the modern day turtles that we see now. They began to lose their rough scaly shell with the N. argentina and the N.oweni and began to develop a more smooth texture, needed for swimming. This is where we discover the genus Meiolania (“small roamer”). The species within Meiolania have been known to be on earth until about 2000-3000 years ago living between the Oligocene-Holocene eras and it mainly resided within Australia, Lord Howe Island, New Caledonia and Vanuatu varying in different sizes while in different areas. Meiolania had a very unusually shaped skull that hosted many knob and horn like bulges.…

The glaucus atlanticus rises to the surface because of a gas in its belly; its belly is an ocean blue color camouflaging into the ocean water. To finalize, another of the glaucus adaptations is their ability to protect their eggs. To protect their young the glaucus atlanticus spray their eggs into a dead carcass of their prey.…

The following is a research proposal to explore the possibilities that the Tyrannosaurus rex was a migratory animal. Similar to how trees form annual growth rings- bones also have yearly indicators of growth. By comparing the oxygen isotope levels of each year indicator of the bone with isotopes of the surrounding areas we can see where the Tyrannosaurus rex may have traveled to throughout its life cycle. Assuming the oxygen isotope levels can be calculated for the areas of Interest, the bulk of our grant would be spent cutting the oxygen isotope levels from existing fossils. Using USGS maps we can pinpoint locations of sedimentary rock that dates to the late Cretaceous Period.…

The nose horn is short and thick, and the 2 long brow horns are curved and can grow more than 3 feet in length. In juvenile triceratops, all three horns were stubby, and they didn’t point forward until they fully matured. The triceratops’ large frill is made of solid bone, and are 3 feet wide. The frill regulates body temperature, attracts mates, and sometimes protects its neck from…

My extinct animal is the megalodon. Not only was the megalodon the biggest prehistoric shark that ever lived,it was the largest marine predator in the history of the planet, vastly outweighing both the modern Great White Shark and ancient reptiles like Liopleurodon and Kronosaurus. Megalodon had a diet befitting an apex predator, feasting on the prehistoric whales that swam the earth's oceans during the Pliocene and Miocene epochs, but also chowing down on dolphins, squids, fish, and even giant turtles (whose shells, as tough as they were, couldn't hold up against 10 tons of biting force) Some of the traits of a megalodon is that they have triangular shape, robust structure, large size, fine serrations, and visible V-shaped neck. Megalodon…

There were a plethora of carnivores like Carcharodontosaurus, another one of the largest carnivorous dinosaurs known, and Deltadromeus, a bear-sized ceratosaur, all strangely were able to live together in this environment. In the water, there were fish and marine reptiles including the Onchopristis, a sawfish the size of a motorhome, coelacanths, Mosasaurs, large marine reptiles that ate fish, and giant crocodiles like the Sarcosuchus that feasted on even the dinosaurs. Spinosaurus’ position in this fascinating ecosystem is arguable, and its diet is unknown, only guesses can be made, but we can find out more about the habits of Spinosaurus using the science of…

“The Difference between Alligators and Crocodiles” Plenty of people confuse the alligators and crocodiles, as they are both large, scaly animals of prey. What most people do not think of is that while they are very alike in some ways, they are two extremely different, yet super frightening hunters. Both of these reptiles are members of the reptilian family Crocodylia, however they are from two different families. There are a sum of 25 types of crocodilians (belonging to the Crocodylia family), including these two. Crocodilians date back 260 million years, that’s 65 million years more than the dinosaurs.…
