All of the babies had their own beliefs, values, norms, and social practices. I can conclude that Ponijao’s culture consist of family. There were plenty of clips throughout the movie, were his family was always together and being playful. Moreover, they did lived in indigent stances, meaning, they didn’t have much access to clean water and other necessities for living. I believe that the beliefs would be sticking to tradition, at the introduction of the movie Ponijao’s mother had orange paint and I know this had some significant meaning.…

The girls of “St. Lucy’s Home for Girls Raised by Wolves” and the Native Americans of the forced assimilation into the American culture were both treated poorly and disciplined harshly. The American Indian Relief Council states that, when the Indians of the forced assimilation made a mistake, they were confined and did not receive food (American Indian Relief Council) (1). The Indians were just learning, so it was unfair for the Americans to treat them so poorly. Also, in St. Lucy’s, Mirabella was “shot with a tranquillizer dart” because she did not let the nuns give her a nametag (St. Lucy’s) (239).…

English Essay Communication is the act in which you use words, sounds, signs, or behaviours to exchange information or to express your ideas, thoughts, feelings, etc., to somebody else. This maybe so, but it is evident in the short story, “The Father” by Hugh Garner, that the character Johnny and his father have no progress in their ability to connect with one another. However, I believe that Johnny’s ignorant nature caused him to act in such a way towards his father. Also, that Johnny’s impulsive trait made him drift away from John even further. Finally, Johnny’s recalcitrant self wasn’t processing how he could fix his relationship between him and John.…

The world has become more and more connected over time, and even now in the era of 24 hour cable news channels, we often times see the world as a harsher place; however this is not the case. On the contrary, there is evidence to support the fact that the world is becoming more peaceful as time goes on - despite what the news might say (Pink and Mack). Having said that, just because the world is becoming a more peaceful place overall does not mean that major conflicts around the world have just stopped happening. Watching the film, God Grew Tired of Us, this fact was more evident than ever.…

I agree with Michael that the “Poor Kids” documentary was tough to watch. Seeing the different types of impoverished living situations that people in the documentary were in was both humbling and frustrating. It was humbling in the sense that it gave me a far greater appreciation for the basic amenities and gifts that I was afforded during my childhood. I never even came remotely close to having my family struggle to survive, and for that I’m forever grateful. The documentary is especially frustrating because its subjects are right here in the United States.…

In the movie Babies (2010), there were some distinct differences in the development of each baby based on its gender. As stated in Santock (2016, p. 169), boys are more likely to engage in rough tumble play as well as risk taking. These characteristics were seen in the Mongolian child, Beyarjargal. Since he was the only male baby, he stood out as the mischievous one compared to the other three female babies.
