Spider's Challenge Research Paper

Decent Essays
The challenge I had to complete was Benny B.’s Challenge. I had to ride a wheel chair through 3 sets of cones with the best time out of my block to earn a point. What I found the most difficult in my challenge is the fact that you can’t see the cones when moving through them. No, I didn’t successfully complete my challenge because the other team had a player who has already had experiences with riding a wheelchair which technically means that they cheated, So I should have won :c. I think the challenge with the most difficulty was Spider’s challenge because It was difficult to pick up the chocolate covered marshmallows due to how slippery they are.

The self-operating napkin is a famous cartoon that sums up what Rube Goldberg machines are all about: creating a machine(or contraption or invention or device or apparatus) that uses a chain reaction to accomplish a very simple task in a very complicated manner. For example, the self-operating napkin accomplishes the simple task of wiping the chin through this convoluted series of events: lifting a soup spoon (A) pulls a string (B) that jerks a ladle (C) that then throws a cracker (D) past a parrot (E). When the parrot jumps for the cracker, its perch (F) tilts and drops seeds (G) into a pail (H). The extra weight in the pail pulls a cord (I) that opens and lights an automatic cigar lighter (J), which sets off a rocket (K) that causes a sickle…

Before going into our scavenger hunt, I thought that communicating with people without speech would not be a hard task; however, after approaching our first destination, I quickly realized that this scavenger hunt would be more challenging than I originally thought. Every person that we tried to communicate with seemed very confused and gave us funny facial expressions. My group signed to each other, and the people that we were trying to communicate with were definitely wondering what was happening. Each person continued to talk to us, even though we were not talking back to them. They pointed at objects and wrote some information down for us, but they still spoke as if we could understand what they were saying.…

I have made it my duty to know if a show will be garbage before or after it comes out. There have been many TV shows that I have loved, but have failed due to the studio taking a huge deuce on it because of timing, bad advertising, bad writing and bad planning. One example of such a great show is the sci-fi western Firefly. It holds a special place in my heart because it was so different, and it blended old timey western elements with futuristic space opera themes. It was cancelled after 13 episodes, but managed to get a movie to wrap up storylines titled Serenity.…

Sympathy and A Noiseless Patient Spider are both poems, very alike yet so different. While the poems share a common theme and deliverance, the differences in the way feelings are expressed and the speaker’s conclusion in each poem shows how truly unique these poems are from each other. Sympathy and A Noiseless Patient spider share quite a few similarities. For example, both poems use animals as a way to convey feelings. Sympathy uses a caged bird while A Noiseless Patient Spider uses a spider spinning a web.…

Nature does not always show it’s true colors, until nature is given a hard-minded perspective of it´s outer shell. Even though nature seems predictable, nature hides what can be considered, it´s true colors. The silence of nature is deadly, and the slight bit of flittering only add to the atmosphere. Nature gives off the seemingly rough taste that is coated by the lighthearted view of people, but is actually a smooth movement into reality. Through constant toil and struggle of understanding, nature cannot be predictable, much like a beetle that only shows it´s shell.…

It's understood that films are viewed with our eyes and heard with our ears but, "Scavengers" is proof that you can also implement taste and smell into film even if the smells and taste are absolutely disgusting. The title, "Scavengers" flew over my head even after the opening summary that states that the main characters of the film were left stranded on a strange planet after communication from VESTA-1 (a spacecraft) was lost. As the animation takes place we learned that the VESTA-1 was destroyed except for a few small pods that have landed on another planet.…

One of my greatest achievements was coming second in a state competition with my church. Usually people would not consider this as a memorable achievement, but for me it is. Every two years churches across New York come together to compete in categories such as art, music, drama, or liturgical dancing. My church would generally excel in each category that we would participate in, yet we always finish in last place in the bible quizzing category. This category is the Christian version of jeopardy; each group is required to memorize various verses from the bible.…
