Is the Spider Monkey Worth Saving? There are less than 2,000 packets of spider monkeys left in the world. Also spider monkeys give birth to only one offspring every three to four years. The spider monkey is not worth trying to save. There are many reasons of why they aren’t worth saving. Some of these reasons include money, reproduction, and the activity of spider monkeys. Spider monkeys live in the tropical rain forests of South America. They have long arms and legs for swinging around forest canopies. The monkeys got there name because of their long limbs, which gives them the look of a spider. They spend most of their time swinging through trees and foraging

If we tried to save the spider monkey we would fail. There are not enough spider monkeys left in the world to save their species. The reason for this is they cannot reproduce fast enough. Three to four years is too long with how fast the monkeys are dying off.
Spider monkeys don’t benefit us or any other living thing. They spend all day swinging from trees and eating. They don’t eat anything that is harmful, and they don’t help us get anything we need. So because they don’t affect us now it wouldn’t affect us if they went extinct. That is why spider monkeys don’t benefit us.
It is too expensive to try and save the spider monkey. Just to feed only 24 spider monkeys it would cost about 9,125 dollars every year. It would cost a lot more to take care of the spider monkeys’ every need. It is too much money to risk trying to save them. There aren’t many spider monkeys left, so they may not survive even if we tried to save them. We also need the money for other issues. The money could be used for something like purifying water. If we did that then it would benefit everyone including endangered species. That is why we shouldn’t put money towards saving the spider

Cloning of animals is another possible solution to prevent or reverse endangerment of animal species in the Brazilian Amazon rain forest. According to author George Dvorsky, “Brazilian scientists have announced that they are moving ahead with plans to clone a number of endangered species, a list of animals that includes the jaguar, maned wolf, and black lion.” (Dvorsky) Having already collected the genomes of many species, the scientists state that they will clone an animal in extreme cases of extinction. (Dvorsky) Conservation Destruction has been widespread through the rainforests of Brazil, but governments have been increasingly willing to address environmental issues in pursuit of protecting the ecosystems.…

As this canopy species has interbirth intervals, and long time gestation period this becomes another threat for them. People believe that this species is better to be their pets, rather than being free. People capture an infant monkey by killing it's mother, and then it is sold at a low rate in the Black Market, as a pet. This New World Primate was created to be free, not to be our pets or food, and neither were their habitats created to serve us as a agriculture or farm land, mining sites, or as our…

They are found swinging in trees or hanging from tree limbs. Gibbons use a system of brachiating in which they swing from branch to branch in trees (Lang). Gibbons have a generalized body plan and their arboreal body makes it well adaptable for them in the canopy of trees (Stanford, et al. 184). Their body size range anywhere from ten to twenty-five pounds and they are under three feet in length (184). They have a flat face, enlarged brain, grasping hands and feet, longer arms than legs, very long fingers, short thumbs, a broad chest, a suspensory shoulder, and no tail (“Gibbons” and Stanford, et al. 184).…

In the article, “Which Species Will Live?” by Michelle Nijihuis, she explains in her article her thesis and the main point, which is, that as a society, we need to make stronger efforts to save more species and to not just let them die out just because they do not deserve a position that is valuable enough for this society. She compares also what society should be accomplishing to a battlefield medic who, “works unstintingly to save lives, even while knowing that he or she cannot save them all.” This was an attempt to discuss her point on how individuals should attempt to save species if, once again, they are not able to be saved or even helpless. Triage is a decision-making system when treatment in difficult situations when time is short.…

For years, society had been governed by sets of rules, which states what people can and cannot do. Even though apes are our closest evolutionary ancestors, they still do not have any rights that could help protect them. Countries, such as Spain, the U.K., Sweden, Austria, Belgium, and The Netherlands, have given some rights to gorillas. These rights are used to protect these primates from experimentation, torture, and medical testing. Sadly one of the countries that does not have rights for apes is America.…

According to scientists, around 150-200 species of plant and animal go extinct every 24 hours. This statistic doesn’t seem so shocking until the realization comes that this is almost 1,000 times the natural rate for extinction. Humans contribute a great amount to this pandemic. A prime example is that of the dodo bird, which was famously hunted into extinction. Around 20,000 species are currently listed as threatened by extinction by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).…

Countless amounts of animals are becoming endangered right now. The more endangered a species, the harder it is to save them. Although a good amount of people don’t take this topic seriously, animal endangerment is a topic that is not to be thrown around lightly. If an animal species becomes so endangered that humans cannot help it, it could become extinct and we may never see it again. People should try more to help endangered animals because they are dying due to habitat loss, climate change, and poaching.…
