My passenger and I were surprised to find out that the CHP officer pull me over for speeding. I explained to the officer that I had been paying extra attention to my speed and keeping a more than safe following distance of approximately 75 yards behind since he joined the freeway. There were no other cars in between us and I had a clear view of him at all times.

To everyone who found a way to cleverly avoid being caught by speeding cameras or red-light cameras, the law applies to you now too. Our Arizona Senator from Tucson, Steve Farley, originated bill 1073, which last month was overwhelmingly passed in the Senate (20-10) and was signed by the governor a few days ago. This new law makes it illegal for a person to have a covering over their license plate (like a clear plastic piece over it). While a cover seems innocent enough, many people used one in order to make it difficult for their plate to be read by photo radar cameras, or even with the naked eye at certain times of the day. As Senator Farley said, it makes no sense to require a license plate, but allow covers.…

In the United States, rear-end collisions represent 38% of all car crashes on public roads (NationalHighwayTrafficSafetyAdministration, 2014). Two major causes for car accidents are drivers not paying attention to the traffic ahead and failing to maintain a safe distance from the car that’s ahead (J. DingusT.A., S.K.,Horowitz,A.D.,&Knipling,R., 1998). Therefore, a device that can alert drivers whenever they are not paying attention to the traffic and helping them maintain proper distance from the car ahead could be an important safety tool. Collision Avoidance Technology (CAT) systems are sensory based devices that were designed to prevent any potential dangers during driving. Some of the recent CAT systems have automated assisted braking…
