• Starting the speech with relating the audience to the topic that the speech is discussing, as well as involving an emotional fictional story, making the audience even more aware of the problems that the topic can find a solution for was a way hoping to gain the audience’s attention and keep their mind focused with the speaker as well as making the topic important and relevant to them by mentioning “everyone here has been to high school”.

For example, talking about medicine and giving a story that includes members of your family are doctors and talk to you about medical issues on daily basis can help with your credibility a lot more than stating a survey about that medicine or just one research about it. Another example, is talking about a sickness and mentioning a story about someone you know or yourself having suffered this sickness before which will keep the audience’s logos with you as well as their emotional side with you. Giving facts from reliable sources is an excellent way of keeping your arguments valid as well as believable. Looking at both sides of a topic and discussing both sides for example talking about both the positive and negative sides of smart phones could help your audience believe you more and make them feel like they are not being manipulated. Eye contact and showing interest in the subject is one of the most important things for ethos, giving eye contact will automatically boost your credibility as well as being interested in a topic could also help you out with engaging the audience to your topic.
