Speech recognition changes everything. The ability to access technology and use it to connect with the world is an amazing gift to a senior citizen. Speech recognition is commonly used on a daily basis by many of us on our smartphones without giving it much thought. However to a senior or even a person with a disability it is life changing. Speech recognition is partially available on devises such as Ipad’s, tablets, and some laptops. If a community center were to add this technology for their seniors they would need a software program (ASR), a computer with a sound card, and a microphone or headset.
