This year in Speaking of Faith and Meaning my skills with delivering speeches has strengthened substantially. Being in a class with your peers allows you to grow with a security blanket that is hard to find other places. Everyone in that class wanted one another to succeed and I really enjoyed working in that setting. I think that my delivery and confidence grew the most. I was able to better deliver speeches extemporaneously as the year went on. The very first speech we gave I had a very heavy reliance on my notecard but, by the end of the semester, I did not need a notecard. My confidence in myself to be able to research and deliver the material grew greatly. There was much that I thought I did strongly this semester and a lot of the speeches helped me grow as a presenter. Not only did they grow my strengths but, they also exposed some of my weaknesses and that will help me grow as well.

I did not think that I needed to prepare because we were able to read it straight from the paper that we brought to class. However, I was wrong, I noticed myself pronouncing words incorrectly and stumbling on some of the alliterations within the poem. If I were to practice more I think those would have been eliminated and my reading would have been that much stronger. One thing that I think I could do to fix this is rehearse more with my peers. If I practiced the whole speech with my roommates or friends it would be much stronger. Not only could I do this, but also, if I were to do more of the self-recording and assessment I would be stronger. It really comes down to me taking the time to prepare well for every speech regardless of whether I think I need it or
