Speech On The Movie Avatar

Improved Essays
Register to read the introduction… But I could never have guessed most of the things that happened. When I saw Avatar it was like I was in this futuristic dream that I couldn’t escape from, not that I wanted to even leave for a second to go to the bathroom. I remember having to go to the bathroom really bad after drinking a large coke; I held it in for most of the movie until I couldn’t any longer.

Avatar has been nominated for 9 Oscar awards. Those nominations are best art direction, best cinematography, best directing, best film editing, best original score, best picture, best sound editing, best sound mixing and best visual effects. There were no performance nominations; I’m not surprised at this because the visual effects and graphics are what draw you in to see the movie. In my opinion the acting wasn’t good or bad it was just ok. I think this movie would have done much better than it has if Cameron higher some better known actors such as Leonardo Dicaprio. Above all I would highly recommend going to see this big-budget mainstream film. If you can go to the loudest, biggest, brightest theater you can find and if you go deaf or blind from seeing this movie it will be well worth

Nina Jablonski's in her TED talk about race eloquently explained the differences in human skin color. For many centuries, the color of the human skin was the one feature determining the value of a person. For years, people suffered, forcibly removed from their homes, families and everything they knew and loved, and were sold as objects into slavery. They dehumanized, stripped of their rights, dignity, beaten, abused, and killed, simply because their skin was dark. Slavery might be the thing of the past, but its echo reverberates in or society to this day.…

In a Democratic society many take freedom for granted, while others believe that they are not given enough freedom. Dave Eggers introduces us to a society that is searching for what they believe to be “total freedom”, while Megan Boler provides readers with examples of media in democracy and how freedom is portrayed in each form. Both sources allow the audience to see that freedom does require a balance of control. A world with total freedom would instead lead to a society with many feeling violated, this is why there needs to be some level of external control exerted on citizens. What needs to be found and determined is that proper balance of freedom, and how to address this balance with citizens of each and every community.…
