Ralph Northam, a Democrat won Tuesday in the Virginia governor's race. Northam was defeating the Republican, Ed Gillespie by almost 9 percentage points. In addition to winning the governor’s race, Democrats also won a number of legislative seats. It was a close race for governor. Northam was a 58 year old Norfolk doctor. Northam tried to appeal to everyone including rural Trump voters without turning Democrats away. This is Northams victory speech that he gave when he won. “ In Virginia it’s going to take a doctor to heal our defences and I’m here to let you know that the doctor is in! And this doctor will be on call for the next four years.” This victory speech was interrupted by a small group of protestors but that was very briefly. The
