Sex Education : Preventing Teen Pregnancy I know all too well the importance of good, reliable, early sex education which involves parents is to curbing the number of teen pregnancies in the United States. Having been the only girl in my seventh grade class whose best friend gave birth two days after turning thirteen, only to become a teen mother myself two and a half years later. I am now Mom to a sixteen year old whom I am proud to say has the good sense of self and confidence to fight against peer preasure when ever she is placed in a situation which involves activities which do not meet her high moral standerds but I am also still all to familure to how quickly life moves around us and before they know it teenagers can find themselves scared alone and desperate for assistance which they may not be prepared to handle. Looking back on my experience with sex education and my subsequent sexual experiences I can see where the gapos in the information I received led to my early entry into motherhood. It is difficult enough for teenagers finding their own path in life as parents and authority figures it is neccesary that we arm them with enough accurate information to make responsible choices that will impact their future success so directly and the support they can trust no matter what choices they …show more content…
If we do not begin arming our children with the information that may save their lives prior to their first encounters with the situations that may take them then we are failing at our mission. Once children have begun the learning processess at their own hands on learning it is of little benefit to begin telling them all the reasons they should not be doing it.
