INTRODUCTION

Health is optimal well being that contributes to maintaining our quality of life. The aim of this book is create awareness of the importance of this word. Health should not be a word from a dictionary, should be your primary focus in life. Eating is a simple thing, but eating healthy can be very difficult when you have so many food you can choose from. The question you should ask yourself: is: do you eat healthy? And if you don’t, what can this food cause on long term? Are the most dangerous diseases the effects of a poor diet? You will learn how eating can change your life, how you can prevent serious diseases just by choosing the right food and how you can change your lifestyle, following simple steps.

The best recommendations are: olive oil, canola oil, sesame oil, avocado oil (or eating avocado). You can also receive daily intake of good oil by eating nuts, sunflower seeds, flaxseed, soybeans or seafood.
On the third, fourth, fifth and sixth rows of the pyramid, you will find food that is good and recommended for our health, mainly fruits, vegetables, good sources of proteins, cereals. Your daily nutrient requirements depends on your age, your gender and your daily activity. When eating your daily meals, try to combine food from the last four rows of the pyramid, if you want to receive the vitamins and minerals you need for a good health.
Also, portion size is very important, not only for kids, but for us to – when you put a great amount of food in your plate, your brain will know that all the food needs to be eaten, so it will send you the command of eating it. Portion control is very important if you’re trying to improve your health or lose weight. You don’t need to memorize the entire list of calories for each food, you just need to follow your visual cues and remember that it’s better to have five meals per day, in small amounts, than two per day in bigger amounts. Nutritionists say that we need to have three important meals and other two servings, as fruit, between the important meals of the day.
