Speech On Chewing Gum

Hi Cathy! You did a good job presenting your speech. However, I would like to give you a few tips that might help the next time you try presenting something. The first thing I noticed was the gum you are chewing. For some people chewing gum seems unprofessional and distracting. Try to focus on engaging your audience by using eye contact. Eye contact lets the audience know that you know what you are talking about and are confident enough to not look at a piece of paper the whole time. Another subject that ties into this is your usage of the words “like” and “um.” Using these words to fill in spaces is never a good idea. I would recommend looking up words that transition smoothly through out your speech. Make sure to end your speech with a clear

After presenting and completing my visual informative speech, there were several strengths and weaknesses present throughout my speech. Some of my strengths, with respect to the content of the speech as I did my visual presentation, was that I did a good job with the introduction. The introduction involved introducing my topic and grabbing the attention of my audience. Also, I had great supporting materials and most importantly great organization of my main points. As for the delivery aspect of my speech, according to the video, I had a good posture and used my flash cards very well, which were very helpful in delivering my speech.…

My video seemed to be clear enough, the audio was not as good as I had hoped. I am proud I finally got the laptop to work with me and stayed relatively calm during the ordeal. I tried to get the audience in front of me as much as I could, since I do not have a classroom available to me. Overall, I think I have improved some from my "Just Bag It" speech. 2.…

In reflection to my second speech in public speaking, I believe it turned out better this time than the last. When I got up in front of the class, I was a little shaken up. I really believe this was because I was too organized. As I stood at the podium, I felt overwhelmed. I realized I over prepared and I did not know where to start.…

Practice makes perfect as everyone has heard this saying before. In the future, I plan on practicing my speeches more by speaking in front of a mirror over and over again to give myself the impression of what I look like when speaking in front of a group of people. Practicing in front of a mirror over and over again will also help me memorize my speech more instead of relying on my note card as often, giving me more confidence while speaking. I tend to use my note card as a comforting thing when I get nervous and forget what I am about to say. It gives me the chance to collect my thoughts and remember what I was going to say as well as staying on track of where I was going in my speech.…

After noticing the speaker’s confidence during the speech, it became clear that his calmness and ability to speak clearly, his ability to refer to his notes and to use the power point at the same time and also his ability to ensure he was the source of the information he was giving made his delivery good. This informative speech could have been improved with more body movement during the transitions and a good eye contact with the…

The first thing I noticed in my video is that I say “umm” way too often. The first time I said, “umm” in my speech was at 0:10 and continued to say it throughout my whole entire speech. I found it quite annoying when listening to myself. It is my go to word when I am nervous and it is something I really need to work on. The second thing I noticed is that I don’t look professional when giving my speech because instead of standing up straight and tall, I lean to the side and kind of stick my hip out.…

I notice that my head and eyes are fixated at the windows on the back of the room. My head also tilts from one side to another and there seems to be no sense of enthusiasm for what I am saying. You can tell that I am trying to finish this speech as quickly as possible and this spotlight that I put upon myself really hinders me. Something that I notice from my persuasive speech is different is that I have something important so share. I value my opinion as an individual a lot more and I try to make sure that people understand why I am speaking in the first place.…

Throughout the course, I learned different aspects of project management, and skills that can be used in the everyday life as long as involve interacting with other people. In this class I learned about how to be a better team member. This semester I was reminded of how important communication is and how people need to keep emphasizing it as one of the most important skills any person could possesses. The personality test was useful, I think it gave all of us a good way to start to see how everyone is different. It made it easier for each of us to better understand one another in how our unique personalities can be a challenge when working with others.…

In my opinion, Sam did a great job doing this presentation having in mind that he is only seventeen. He kept his speech fluent the whole time, there was not a single filler used such as, “um, and uh.” He kept the audience entertained and used examples in order to back up his topics. The only thing I would recommend to Sam, would be having the speech projected on the screen instead of in hand. He may have preferred it this way, but I think that at times he would take the time to look down making it more difficult than it would be having it in front of him projected.…
