Mood Swings Wine

Mollie O'Penshaw

Hi this is Dr. Mache Seibel and I am the host of, "The Hot Years." Before you read this interview, I want to mention something at the beginning. Some women, when they talk about menopause, they whine, other women, when they talk about menopause, they drink wine. Today, I have someone with me who has created her own business behind the thought of wine for menopause, Mollie O'Penshaw. Mollie O'Penshaw is a delightful woman and the founder of "Mood Swing Wine." Her approach unique to this concept of wine and woman in menopause.

Let's dive into the interview:

Mache Seibel: Mollie, nice to have you join me.

Mollie O'Pensha: Thank you so much for having me. I really appreciate this opportunity.

I think it's a very catchy name, particularly for women who are transitioning into, through, and beyond menopause. Tell me a bit about Mood Swing Wine.

Mollie O'Pensha: Well, it began when I had a girlfriend experiencing some horrible symptoms of menopause. I wasn't sure what was wrong. One day I went to her home and she was sobbing uncontrollably. I thought maybe it had something to do with her going back to school, going through a divorce, or her many life changes. I found out later, when we sat down and talked, that she thought she was going through menopause. She thought this because, at a very young age, her mother had experienced menopause, similar to hers with the tears and everything.

Before she could explain any further I said, "Hold that thought, we can talk about it in a minute. I'm going to run to the store and get a bottle of wine." When I arrived at the store to buy a bottle of wine, I struggled to find one that might put a smile on her face. I grabbed a bottle, kind of our go-to wine and went back to her home. We sat down, drank the bottle of wine, and talked about menopause. When I went home and reflected on what she was going through with menopause, which I haven't gone through yet and it kept me up at

The more I thought about it, the more I researched it. I woke up in the middle of the night with great catchy names for my wine, what it should represent, and how women should approach menopause.

Mache Seibel: Well, it's very interesting. Tell me, what are some other things that you do with the wine and with menopause, that you encouraging women to do that you think may help and improve their mood?

Mollie O'Pensha: What's really exciting is the message that I have on the back of my bottle. That as women, we need to embrace life, take it on the chin, enjoy every moment that we're given. Even though we're going through menopause, and we don't like those black annoying chin hairs that we've gotta pluck. Or when we can't find our reader glasses, and later, they're on our head. We also forget things as soon as we set them down.

My message clearly has been to embrace life and it's giving me a platform to speak to women and to engage in women in humor, to laugh about it and of course, enjoy wine. It's given me a lot of speaking opportunities throughout the country. I'm also now the exclusive wine, and have been for a year, at Menopause The Musical in Las Vegas at Harrah's. That is a show that also pokes fun of menopause and gives women the reason to laugh about what they're going

On March 16th 2017, Natalie Daguiam delivered a persuasive speech to the Speech 2001 class of 25 people at Western University on why sugar is an addictive substance using a PowerPoint presentation as a visual aid. Natalie began her speech with some effective hooks, noticeably grabbing the attention of the audience. This was done in a two-step process, in which she first asked the audience “How do you live a good life?” a general question which seemed to attract some audience attention. She then transitioned into her topic by showing very spectacular and indulging images of sweet desserts while describing how delicious they are, effectively using visual rhetoric to grasp the attention of the remainder of the audience and enhance the pathos of her speech.…

Therefore, women are more susceptible than men for adverse medical effects such as hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, prolonged QT syndrome which may result in fainting, seizure, or death, amplified pain sensitivity, pathologic sleep, and bowel dysfunction (Darnall et al, 2012). The hype on Caitlyn Jenner’s transition has dimmed since her interview with Diane Sawyer and her Vanity Fair cover, but on September 25th it is legally documented that she is Caitlyn and a woman. Caitlyn is placed on a pedestal by her popularity on the Kardashians and her being an Olympic winner, and it seems unfair to the Trans community because of how Caitlyn Jenner knows so little. Her status also has helped her move through this process, not smoothly, but not as bumpy as most in the Trans or gender minority community. Laverne Cox another celebrity, who has become another face of the Trans community, lived in Alabama and she didn’t have the support of family like Jenner. She was bullied in school for being different and so pressured into being ‘normal’ that she tried to commit suicide (Breen 2014).…

In a Democratic society many take freedom for granted, while others believe that they are not given enough freedom. Dave Eggers introduces us to a society that is searching for what they believe to be “total freedom”, while Megan Boler provides readers with examples of media in democracy and how freedom is portrayed in each form. Both sources allow the audience to see that freedom does require a balance of control. A world with total freedom would instead lead to a society with many feeling violated, this is why there needs to be some level of external control exerted on citizens. What needs to be found and determined is that proper balance of freedom, and how to address this balance with citizens of each and every community.…

After reviewing my persuasive speech over why the University of Oklahoma is the best university in the nation, I would sum up my speech as a little bit of train wreck. Although I made good claims with factual evidence, the amount of stuttering I did, and all the times I was choked up throughout the speech drew my audience’s attention away. From this, I lost my audience’s belief that I was competent of the information I was reiterating to them. At the introduction of my speech I believe I started out fairly strong and gave a good run down of the coming speech.…
