INTRODUCTION

I have been a faculty member of the University of the District of Columbia (UDC) since 2006. I am one of several professors who were former students of the University. I was a graduate student in UDC’s speech-language pathology program and graduated in May 1997 with a master’s of science degree. Afterwards, I served my obligatory clinical fellowship in Indiana and became a board certified speech-language pathologist in 1998. I worked as a speech-language pathologist in New York City for more than a year before applying to doctoral programs. I was accepted to the University of Memphis where my major was speech-language pathology and my collateral areas were psychological disorders and multicultural issues in communication.

I want to deliver a message to my clients; that it doesn’t matter what challenge they’re faced with, there will always be the option of succeeding in an unfavorable situation.…

This is my second year at MSUM, but I am a junior credit-wise and have never thought about changing majors. I am also working on getting a minor in special education because it is something I love learning about and that knowledge will be extremely helpful in my future career as a Speech Pathologist.…
